Gavin Noble wins the  Irish Elite Championships in triAthlone on his Kuota Kebel and Spinergy Stealth wheels 

"Hi all,

I am pleased once again to update you with the news that I defended my Irish Elite Championship at the weekend.

In a new course record I did exactly the same as I did last year - leading out the swim, breaking away on the bike ands cruising on the run to victory. I was a bit surprised by the way the race was played out as I had expected there to be more people with me on the bike leg.

The strength and depth of athletes has improved since last year, especially in the swim as i only took in the lead before we exited the water. However I was a bit more tactically aware than the others as I went as hard as i could through transition and on the first lap of the bike - thus establishing a lead 'out of sight out of mind'.

Overall is was a good weekend - I did television interiews for Setanta Sports and RTE - the race build up and race to be broadcast in the coming weeks in Ireland. I may be able to put some snippets on my site. I received a lot of coverage and support from the large corwd - the age group had over 1500 athletes and the race was run alongside a summer festival. My 'pink 2xu' race suit attractiing a lot of attention in particular !

I am now back in stirling and will head for World Cup Kitzbuhl at the weekend in Austria. From there I plan to travel to Font Romeau in the south of france for a camp (at altitude) before a few races at the end of August - ETU Croatia, World Champs in Germany and ETU Poland. No time to rest.
